The Girgis Estate, previously known as the Brown-Vooro Farm House, was built in 1866 by Mr. Samuel Brown. The house is a T-shaped, three-bay façade brick structure, with a central projecting front piece, a pattern recommended by the Canada Farmer in 1865. It features polychromatic brick patterning on the rear wing and the verge board typical of Toronto Township. The building is designated under the terms of the Ontario Heritage Act.
The Georgian style and front facing symmetrical structure became popular in the 1860’s.The stained glass windows, shutters and mouldings at the peak of the front entrance are stunning features that emanates character from that time.
The charming gardens and details around the Estate help create a fairy-tale feel for all guests. It has an elegance and grander that still stands strong while being surrounded by development. When walking through the iron gates and along the tree lined path framing the Estate, it takes you out of daily living and into an oasis from an earlier era.
